Academic Career
Stephen is an internationally recognised communication scholar and academic leader whose research focuses on organisational communication, intercultural communication, and communication in educational and workplace settings. He is currently Professor of Communication and Director of the Social Media Listening Center at Clemson University in the US. He has previously held senior leadership positions at Massey University in New Zealand, including Head of School and Associate Dean (Advanced Research Degrees).
Research Leadership
Stephen is a Fellow of the International Communication Association. He has served in editorial leadership roles for numerous scholarly journals and has held elected leadership positions within the National Communication Association (USA), International Communication Association, and World Communication Association, for which he is currently President. He joins QUT in early 2027.
